I'm finally getting ready (those darn kids, always wanting food!) to put together a home NAS system. My machines are the following:
Currently, most of the shared files are on the server, which also is a web and FTP host (overworked, yes I know). I want to move all the shared files onto the NAS. Given that I am almost completely 64 bit, is there a specific OS or hardware configuration I should look to or avoid?
- HP workhorse PC: Vista 64 bit
- HP family PC: Vista 64 bit
- Toshiba laptop: Vista 64 bit
- Gateway media center PC: XP Pro MCE2005
- Intel-based server running Windows Server 2003 R2
