New Around Here
Hi All,

I am confused in upgrading my router.

My requirements :
1. Good Coverage(2 - floor)
2. Good DLNA Server and File sharing abilities.
3. Torrent Download (So Asus is the only option)

I was more biased towards AC-56U but sadly it is not available in India, So I am stuck with these 2 options
AC55UHP - 7.5k in India
AC1200HP - 4k in India -

Please help me choose , between 2. Apart from USB 3.0 Capabilities(55UHP) I don't see any difference in both.

I need to decide ASAP, as my ages old Netgear Access Point is almost dead.

I know ASUS RT-AC68U is the best options, but little over my budget.

With the only 'review' of these models being for the RT-AC55UHP, I would be inclined to try this one first.

No RMerlin firmware and with 9dBi antennae the coverage will favor a single floor (vs a multilevel building). But if these are your only choices, this seems like the best one to me.

What does the well seasoned RT-AC68U cost there? I would be tempted to spend the extra money depending on how much of a premium it would be. (If for nothing else, the RMerlin support).

In My Country 68U cost more than double the price of 55UHP. Thanks for the input, but I think I can well spend in extenders and still save money over it. Features are almost same and I have max 8 devices connected at a time avg of 5. So I guess 55uHP will do.
Ordered 55UHP for Rs.6800, 68U was for Rs.14000.
But still tempted towards 68U, may be after sometime will spend there and use it as an extender ;)

Hi Manik- Hopefully you are using the 55UHP now, could you please share your observations on it. I have exactly same requirements(direct torrent download, DLNA, Range) as you.

I have an added option of going for N66u, sourcing it from USA, as they as they are available for double the US price in India.

However, ASUS service concerns me. They have a replacement policy during the warranty period and do not support any repairs after warranty. Anything brought from US to India will not be covered under warranty... so has a Risk.
