Need help with how USB drives are presented on RT-AC68U

I hung my older 500Gb Seagate FreeAgentGo USB2 drive off my AC68U today, and have it shared out and pushing backups to it with my MaxSyncUp backup software. All that works and I can browse the network, find the storage and read/write files as needed.

That said, I'm a little confused about what I see. The router let me create a a 'Device Name' to represent the storage. It then seems like each folder in the root directory of the drive becomes its own mount point? I guess I was expecting to see the entire USB drive like I can when connecting it via USB on my PC. It was always easy to right-click it and check the properties to see how much free/used space I have.

So do I have this right - each root folder is its own share? And the way it is presented off the router is differeent than how it is presented when connected directly to my PC?

Thanks for any clarification. Some of this is new to me.

Hey buddy. That's just how it works with Samba. The router is running a linux kernel so the initial directories act as mount points.
