New Around Here
I don’t know too much about networking, but I’m having some issues and hoping someone here can help me. I have a Netgear Nighthawk R7000, a Motorolla Surfboard modem (mine, not rented), and TWC internet. Everything has been running fine for 2 years or so... no problems at all. About a week and a half ago I started having random internet drops. Nothing would work… wired or wireless. It would usually come back on its own after a few minutes, but sometimes I would have to reboot the router and modem. Problems have been getting increasingly more frequent. Network is almost unusable… seems like it always starts dropping again about 15-20 minutes after I reboot everything.

I did some digging… originally thought it might be a problem with the stock Netgear firmware. I tried a couple of the beta builds on the netgear forums and the problem didn’t go away. After that, I switched to the latest build to Merlin firmware… same problem. I’m really not sure what to do now. I’ve tried unplugging the power and cable from the modem for 20 minutes… no luck. Below is a log from last night when one of the drops occurred (let me know if you need more). Can anyone help me? Kinda wondering if this might be my issue, but I don’t understand enough of that thread to know what to do.

I will buy a new router or modem if I need to… I just need someone to help me diagnose the problem. I don’t know enough to know what is causing the issue.

Thanks in advance!

It looks like your modem is dropping the WAN connection (first line in your log)?
