New AC87R and Upgrading to Merlin FW

SHANE523

New Around Here
I just picked up the 87r last week and have been using the stock FW, which works pretty well.

After finding out about Merlin, I decided to change the FW and have some ideas of what I would like to do with and seeing some of the scripts some have made I think my ideas are possible.

First I should explain what my thought process is and maybe someone could give me some insight. It has been a while since I have done scripting on the Unix/Linux side so bare with me.

I am a console gamer, particularly shooters so latency is a big concern for me. What I want to do is create a GUI showing a geographic location of all connections to my console WITH a ping status to each corresponding IP address. My ideas come from a firmware called NetDuma but I want a little more than what they are providing. Plus I went with ASUS due to the HW.

I don't want the black list feature like NetDuma, I think that would be abused. I just want to see the data in a GUI format real time, I know I am asking a lot. :)

IF possible I would actually like to have my PC/Laptop do the actual work, just pull the data from the log file and run it in a web interface, PHP/MySQL? Less load on the ASUS.

Any thoughts, help, directions would be appreciated.

I plan on doing the change to Merlin tonight so I still have some learning to do and some re-education back in to scripts and Linux. :D
