New antennas?

New Around Here
Hey,

I'm thinking of buying the D-Link DIR-825 B1 but I'd like to know what effect replacing it's antennas with something larger, "better" would be?

Basically, what are your experiences of replacing the provided antennas on your router - better range, throughput, etc?

Thanks.

PorkChop.

You'd have to replace all antennas.

I haven't done it myself. If you do decide to do it, use omni-directional antennas with at least 6 dBi gain, preferably 8 dBi.

And don't expect miracles.

Hmm, ok. I'm guessing that getting new antennas will not "boost" much.

Do you know of any other products that enable you to extend or boost wireless signals?

None that have much real effect. Simplest way is to relocate the router closer to desired coverage area if possible.

Best way is to add another access point connected via Ethernet or 200Mbps power line.
