New Home Build with FIOS

Hello all first time poster here. I seek help on Fios networking with a smart switch. My home is being built with a wired network included with both CAT5e and Coax. I still will use the FIOS DVR which I understand requires their MoCa router. But I would like to use a smart switch to handle all other traffic, also hook a wireless ap to one of the switches ports.
My questions are:
How can I set the VZ router to provide what is need to make the DVR's work? i.e. VOD, cable guide etc.
Can I set the VZ router to bridge mode run another Router to handle DHCP functions hooked up to a smart switch? Or should I just stick with the VZ router let it handle DHCP.

I hope i am clear with what I am asking.

Thanks

This is basically the config I use. Just ensure that you have coax going to the VZ router and all the guide and PPV functionallity should work automatically. Bring a cat5 off the router to the switch, then from the switch to the rest of the house. All your traffic to get to the internet will go through the single uplink to the router. I use the VZ router as the local DHCP server. I believe I have about 20 devices listed in the DHCP tables (most with reservations). I have the wireless functionallity on the VZ router disabled and a separate AP connected to the smart switch. With good cabling and a gigabit switch you shouldn't have any problems.

Any smart switch recommendations? The builder said the cabling will support PoE . I would like to keep that functionality. I will have a need for 24 ports as all the phone lines are cat 5 as well so they can be redone to network. I will need to setup VLans for office traffic and the rest of the house. What do you use?
