New Around Here
Hi. Complete MoCa newbie here. I started thinking I'll pray for cat-5 phone lines, but I think MoCa might be a lot less complicated.

I'm buying a house with a satellite dish set up that looks something like:

Sat Dish
|
4x1 switch
L Satellite receiver
L Satellite receiver
L Satellite receiver
L Satellite receiver

where the dish, the 4x1 switch, and the receivers are all connected via RG-59 coax.

If I want to repurpose all the coax for a MoCa network, can I just:

1. Disconnect the satellite dish,
2. replace the satellite 4x1 switch with a 4-way bi-di splitter, and
3. replace the satellite receivers with MoCa bridges?

In other words, the repurposed set up will look like:

Sat Dish

4-way bi-di splitter
L MoCa bridge
L MoCa bridge
L MoCa bridge
L MoCa bridge

Will this work?

Thanks.

Oh, do they sell a 4-way splitter, or do I have to cascade 3 2-way splitters?

As long as satellite is decommissioned, what you propose should work.

Four-way splitters are commonly available. Just make sure the splitter is rated to pass at least 1.5 GHz and you should be fine.
