Not able to find wireless mode in BE92U

Occasional Visitor
hi all,
just upgrade to be92u.

Realised that there is no option to change wireless mode in be92u. Unlike the older ASUS router.
Kindly advise if you guys have any idea on how to change it in be92u.

Thanks and best regards,
JR.

can't see it in my screen.

Second screenshot: Anything under the “Professional “ tab?

I believe there is a single remnant of that Wireless Mode setting that is left in the Professional (tab) as @John Fitzgerald suggests.

If you go to the Professional tab, change Band pulldown to 2.4 GHz, you should see 802.11b mode, (also a pulldown with 3 choices: Long, Short, and Disable).

If you are having issues with 5 GHz devices it's probably a good idea to toggle OFF WiFi 7 Mode right there in your first image. This should change AES+GCMP256 to AES and hopefully helps with what I suspect may be why you are asking.

hi guys,
thank you so much for your reply.

i am still unable to change the wireless mode in Professional tab.

i took a screenshot on old asus router which has wireless mode option under wireless- general.

Yes because N/AC mixed has been replaced with AX, AXE, and WiFi 7's BE.

2nd image, try changing 802.11b mode to Long. That is how mine is set, and that is the last remnant of those Wireless Mode settings left.

Post #1, picture #1, toggle ON 2.4 and 6 band.
5G band in Pro tab is set to 20/40/80 so 2.4 band needs to be ON.

***Did you import old CFG file?

Last photo post #7 second red box shows mixed mode wrong as the 2.4 G band is disabled, I believe.
Also, fix channel to 36 or 40 and change Auth. to WPA2/ WPA3.

If Wiki is accurate the history of WiFi

802.11b
802.11g
802.11n (N) = WiFi 4
802.11ac (AC) = WiFi 5
802.11ax (AX, AXE) = WiFi 6/6E, E meaning 6 GHz added
802.11be (BE) = WiFi 7
802.11bn (BN) = WiFi 8 (coming soon I hope).

You jumped from 5 to 7 so there are quite a bit of changes...

@John Fitzgerald If I'm not mistaken that is Merlin firmware which runs off the previous web GUI interface...

EDIT- Last photo is from the AC router showing Wireless Mode setting...

I brought it up because it looks wrong even for AX class.
The old settings in my mind are wrong but I could be mistaken and that’s why I asked if old settings were imported.

Not sure if I’m making myself clear?

BE settings on the AX class interface?

I still have an AXE11000 running in router mode and AXE16000 running in AP mode. Let me go pull some screenshots. Reading through one of the pics (I believe 5 GHz I want to say it seems right). I change 2 settings on AXE routers from default and enable PSC on 6 GHz.

Not sure why 802.11b is set to Disable. Good question!

EDIT, added images of 3004 (GT-AXE11000) and 3006 (GT-AXE16000) ASUSwrt 5 GHz band for reference:

(EDIT- I honestly don't know why I have OFDMA/802.11ax MU-MIMO enabled on the GT-AXE11000 in the in-law's house, it is Disabled here at our home. Ahh, that's because I was curious and 5 GHz-1 is fully disabled, while 5 GHz-2 is fully enabled like at the in-law's. Getting sleepy as I was awoken by my elderly father's loud voice around 2 am-ish).

In post #1/2, picture #1, he has 3 SSIDs set up, 1 for each band (on the left). I'm pretty sure he won't be able to toggle on 2.4 and 6 because they are already on, but on separate SSIDs. He has selected the middle one on the left which is his 5 GHz network. On that network there is a little "WiFi7" meaning WiFi 7 Mode is on. I turn mine off on both 2.4 and 5 GHz, (which I have Smart Connected together, (and no WiFi7). What you are suggesting to turn on 2.4 and 6 would effectively Smart Connect all 3 bands together.

On my AX86U I can’t turn off the 2.4G radio and set the 5G band to 20/40/80 and have it work. Both bands need to be ON.
Turning off the 2.4 radio causes a problem.

That’s why I’m asking about importing of old settings, comparing post #3 pictures with post #7.
First set of pictures show toggle for 2.4 and 6 bands OFF. Post #3
Professional tab shows all radios ON. Post #7
Doesn’t seem possible that this would not cause a conflict. Having it off in one spot and on in another. (Is this due to importing of old settings?)

Thanks for that. The GUI picture from post #3 has no text mention of “Smart Connect” and I don’t have any AXE routers, so that was not intuitive for me.

Thank you all for the support.
my setup is BE92U - as main router and AX6000 as AIMesh node.

That's why i put 2.4GHz and 5GHz not in Wifi 7 mode and leave 6GHz as Wifi 7 only.

as shown in jzchen screenshot in 3006 firmware for AXE16000, it still shows wireless mode option but i don't see that in BE92.

kindly let me know if my setting is optimal.

thank you.

kindly let me know if my setting is optimal.

After all that, it appears that ASUS has removed that sub setting for “Wireless Mode”

Not sure what other tech clients you use but I have changed some settings like; DTIM to 3, Beacon Interval to 300, Tx Power to Balanced, RSSI to -65.

Because this is new, maybe best to run it as close to stock settings for awhile to see how it performs for you.
