I just upgraded to merlins newest firmware dated 7/11/13 from the Asus 271 firmware all works good do I need to clear nvram or is it ok not to ? Thanks Jim !

Clear nvram when upgrading from the older 2xx code branch.

The router came with 3004-260 then I flashed the asus 3004-272(1) so does that mean I need to clear it even though im having no issues that I can tell with your latest flash.

It's not mandatory, but at least a few persons experienced issues when they failed to clear the nvram. Up to you, just try it.

Thanks for the reply. I think im just going to leave it alone im not having any issues and your firmware is working so good I hate to mess with it. What kind of issues do people have when the don't clear NVRAM ? I have tried every firmware asus has released one of them killed my 5 Ghz connection the 260 and 272 seemed ok but yours has boosted my 5 ghz signal and allows me to have all my devices using 5 Ghz with no issues 2.4 works great as well but lots of nearby routers using it. The two most commonly reported issues were wireless stability (beside the known Centrino-related issues) and issues with the web interface - some settings like the Wireless channel selection weren't working as expected for example.

Yeah no issues here like that no disconnects no slow speeds in fact I get the same speeds wireless as I do hard wired 55 down 11 up rock solid. I want to thank you for your time and help. Jim !

Hi,

As this was discussed so many times in the forum, you have three options to find out:
- RTFM!
- Search in the Forum
- Press the WPS button when turning on the router

Maybe someone could sticky the more common information like how to clear the NVRam like other forums do.

Re-boot to factory specs clears the NVRAM no need for this useless telnet and other command junk.
