Odd Power Issue

Woke up this morning to both my SSIDs being absent on my network list. So I went downstairs and found the N66U dark and quiet. Crap - the router is dead already, great. Noticed the other device on the strip was lit, and the blue LED on the N66U's power supply was on. So I unplugged and replugged the power supply, and the router stayed dark. For shirts n giggles I toggled the power switch on the back of the device and it came up. Weird.

Anyone else have weird issues like this yet? I am debating on RMAing the device back to Amazon because frankly it was shenanigans like this is the reason I replaced my old router. Naturally the system logs are less than helpful on the subject.

is it possible you had a short power blip and router went off ?Say this cause you hiy the power switch and it came to life , if the psu were dead , well nothing would bring the asus to life . I keep mine on a battery backup , lots of power blips here , got tired of having to turn on the router every blip

I've seen a person or two report a similar issue: following a power outage their router failed to turn itself back on, and it required them to turn it off then back on. My guess is it's related to the "smart" power supply Asus uses. I haven't encountered that issue myself (had a few outages these past few months), but it could be because of my UPS which ensures that whenever the power comes back on, it's steady and not fluctuating for a few microseconds.

Sorry for the late reply, but I found the probem: faulty power switch. I turned the router back on and went about my business only to find out about five minutes later the router was down again. Without going into the tedious details I found that the router would eventually turn itself off if there wasn't slight pressure applied to the power switch. I have since placed a book edge on the switch to keep it up, and have requested an RMA from Amazon.

So in a nutshell if you're having weird power problems as I described try playing around with the power button to see if there's an intermittent connection.
