only 54mbps connection on ASUS RT-N66U

Hi,

I have installed my ASUS RT-N66U with the latest Merlin build.

When connecting through WiFi, my windows 7 internet connection shows a 54mbps conenction.

I am using the n band only setting with WPS2-PSK/AES security settings.

My network card is: Intel Centrino Advanced N-6205

Can anyone tell me how to get a proper 450 mbps connection?

Make sure that 802.11n mode is enabled in the adapter's advanced wireless properties.

Make sure that WMM is enabled on the router.

I have both 802.11n mode and WMM enabled, but my connection shows 54mbps.

Is the reading the same with data flowing? Some adapters show low link rates when idle.

What sort of actual throughput do you get (try timing a large file transfer).

By the way, the Centrino 6205 has a maximum link rate of 300 Mbps, not 450. Did you install the card in the notebook yourself? Is it connected to two antennas?

Thanks a lot for your answers. That is what happens. When WiFi is idle, it shows 54 Mbps, but when I transfer a large file from my NAS to my laptop, the speed changes to 300 Mbps and the speed is excellent.

By the way: I have a Lenovo T420 notebook. Did not install anything myself and do not have a clue how to connect to two antennas. I am curious how to connect to two antennas.
