I know this device is EOL. It's running the latest asus firmware available from last year. I'm using it for some testing but I noticed the Open VPN client will give up trying to reconnect if the server (AX88U running Merlin) goes away for any period of time.
It just stops printing stuff to /tmp/syslog.txt and the UI still shows connected but it's not and never retires. It requires a 'disconnect/reconnect' to get it to connect back up.
I have added to the server config:
explicit-exit-notify 1
keepalive 15 60
Stock clients running on AWS VM's work just fine, it's just this one router and it more bugs me than anything. I searched but I didn't find any threads about the OVPN client being buggy so I wonder if I configured something weird.
