OpenVPN on RT-AC68U

RoyW

New Around Here
I have two RT-AC68U's communicating nicely over OpenVPN using the latest stock firmware. All is good with one exception. The connection needs to be up at all times, or at least when the WAN is up. If there is a glitch, like a power outage on the server side, no problem; the tunnel re-establishes as soon as the server router comes back on line. But if the client side has a power outage, the tunnel is not re-established automagically. Someone has to log into the router and click the connect button.

Am I missing a setting somewhere that would tell the client router to try to connect whenever the tunnel is down? Would the Merlin firmware solve this problem? TIA!

...in Merlin FW there is a switch called "start with WAN" for the openVPN client, that should do the trick.
