while i was reading some methods on hacking high end mikrotik hardware i found this

It seems that they've gotten to a point of booting openwrt on the CCR but without the network ports. Currently as it stands routerOS is wasted on high end hardware as it doesnt have the ability to install other software like pfsense does. Although i have asked for such a feature. The CCR is also the cheapest way to get a Tilera TILE CPU. On home internet, unless you run multigigabit internet you are unlikely to see any CPU use of the CCR1036 beyond 1% with all the features such as L2,L3,L7 firewall, QoS, RADIUS, proxy cache and network services such as NTP,DNS, TFTP used not to mention you can have lots of ram too just like a PC.
Running a UTM on 36 cores would be great. Antivirus and firewall at multigigabit rates.
