Port Forward how many?

New Around Here
I currently have an "ancient" linksys WRT-54G router v 1, yes it still works and I am relatively hesitant to even give it up. However I have run into an issue where I have many items in my house that require port forwarding. Cameras, thermostats, light controls, alarms etc etc. I have researched some routers on the market and found it very hard to find out "what the number of available ports" are to forward on them. I have asked persons at various technical stores, Fry's for example researched on Cisco and found nothing to help with this question. Can someone provide me a little hint into what I need to look at getting if I want to forward a bunch of ports to various devices on my network?

Any input would be helpful.

Thank you very much.

If I recall, been a long time since I've looked at the WRT54G - 20 ports - or you can define ranges for a device (e.g. if a device needs 3 ports, define the upper and lower limit as one range).

Keep in mind that devices that have ports forwarded are open to the internet at large, so make sure that they have some type of authentication on them.

Some brands have only 10 some have 15 like EA4500 and some of the others have 20. Really haven't seen more than 20 port FWD. Might have to look at SBR or higher business router.
