Port Forward not working when vpn is enabled

Any ideas what going on this never happen before i'm stump.
Running RT-AC86U merlin 384.18..PIA is setup in router

I am not doing anything special just a regular vpn setup.
All i know is when the vpn is enabled port forwarding don't work

Should we guess your setup?

1. You have PIA setup as the only VPN client?
2. Is the router traffic using the VPN or WAN in the VPN client routing rules?
3. What external port are you trying to forward?

I have both OpenVPN server and OpenVPN client configs in my router, and I use them for different purposes. I have noticed that if I am connected by client to a remote vpn server, if I connect from outside my lan to my openVPN server on my router that I am unable to get to any internal machine...

PIA is the only client.
For now router traffic is going through WAN , rules will come after the dust is settle
port 8096
As i said port forwarding works once the VPN is not on

PIA admitted it's their problem from an email i got. No time table on when a fix will be ready
