Hello, my son wants me to set up port forwarding on our main home router for a game server. Not sure how to do this on Merlin, but also not sure of the risks??

Any specific way this should be done properly?

He sent me this info

Port forwarding is done on the WAN - Virtual Server / Port Forwarding page.
That simple?

Yep.

Well that depends on how secure the servers that he's setting up are. I presume the server code comes from the game developers and is reasonably secure. Just bear in mind that you'll be giving the entire internet the ability to connect to his "server" (when it's running). So, just like any other server software, if vulnerabilities are discovered you're potentially exposing your entire network to bad actors.
