Port Forwarding Foscam ip Cameras

Miguel Santa

Hi,

I am new to port forwarding and need to port forward my ip cameras so I can access them when I am away on vacation. The cameras have their ip's but since I am not familiar with the ASUS RT-AC5300, I don't know how to configure each camera and ports to remotely access them on a computer. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

What does their instruction manual say about it?

It tells you how to get to the port forwarding section but doesn't really explain very well what kind of information goes where. For example on the port range field,i don't know what to write. I'm setting up ip cameras, so I don't know what ports or poet range to assign the cameras. also the local port, what do I write there. If you can give me an example of the port numbers and where to place them it would be really helpful.
Thanks for your help.

I hope someone else will see this thread and be able to help you out.

Cameras, I don't do (yet).

You really do need to review the Friendly User Manuals - but as a hint - the camera is going to have ports and protocols - and the issue that you might run into is with multiple cameras, all doing the same thing.

Which is a bit of a mess - perhaps the Foscam folks can help out there... and you might need a camera server hosted on your LAN to collect data from those cams - and then, it might be ok.

The camera default ports are different depending on the camera model, they can be 80, 443, 88,... Look at the camera configuration. Then forward any external port to the camera port. There are different security considerations depending on the port and camera model.

Thanks for helping out,i found the information from the foscam website. The issue I had was with the port range and the local port. According to foscam it's the same. In other words local and port range are the same. Also, each camera has took have their own port
