Port Forwarding problem - Cannot close port - CLOSED

I have an Asus RT-AC68U running 380.63_2. I opened a port (8080) for a security camera, tested it, then removed 8080 from port forwarding (closed the port) and "Applied" . My issue is that the port is still open. Tried rebooting the router but it is still open. Does not show up in port forwarding but does show as open in the system log (and I can still access the camera).

Has anyone else seen this behavior? Any suggestions on how to close it?

How are you testing if it's open? Did you also reboot the computer you're testing from (it could be caching...)?

best way to actually test an open port is to look for both a tcp and udp port checker. Those are 2 protocols that use ports, the rest dont. There are many websites that can test this so they can do it externally. Because of hairpin NAT or something similar its quite possible that you see the port open if you tried your WAN address.

Thanks for the responses... I have rebooted both the router and the computers (tried from 2). I am not testing the port any way except accessing the device from outside. I am able to use the camera even though port is (supposedly) closed.

I am now wondering if this has something to do with UPnP... I seem to remember that the Merlin code defaults to UPnP enabled... But, my underlying question still remains... If you remove the port from Port Forwarding, does that not close the port?

Update - It apparently is a result of UPnP - as soon as I turned that off the camera was no longer accessible and the port testers now show the port as closed. I will mark this topic as closed.
