Possible to log into other router?

Kapot

New Around Here
Hi all,

I just received an Asus N66U which I setup behind my main router, the Asus AC66U. The N66U got his own network on 192.168.50.*, the AC66U is handing out 192.168.1.2-*.

Since the N66U is in the basement of my Landlord, i'd like to open the router's setting page without having to annoy my landlord whit the question to let me into his basement all the time.

Is this possible? I run the latest -merlin on both the routers. Cannot really find if there is an way to get this working. I'm eager to think this is not possible, but i'd like someone to confirm that, or even better, tell me how I can do it ;)

Thank in advance,

Kapot.

Mmm found something about port forwarding from the main router to the one behind it. will look into this tomorrow!

Simply type in the 192.168.1.1 address of your main router and you'll have access.

I know. But I dont want to login to my main router, I want to login to the one behind it. The one in the basement, which is connected to the AC66U.

Oh, you're stating your setup wrong then.

The AC66U is behind the N66U (not the other way around).

To be able to access the N66U (easily) switch networks:

Make the RT-N66U be the 192.168.1.1 network and the RT-AC66U be the 192.168.50.x network.

Asus routers will allow you to connect to a network below them, but not above them (50.x can connect to 1.x but not the other way around).

Or; make your RT-AC66U network 192.168.100.x and you should be able to connect to the 192.168.50.1 admin page of the RT-N66U.

Thanks for the reply. I seem to be unable to set the IP from my AC66U to 192.168.100.*, it states that it is not an valid IP adres.

Just to get my confusion out of the way:

The internet cable is connected to an (crappy) modem/router from my ISP, I asked them to disable the router function. The first router connected is the AC66U. It got a direct link to the N66U, which hands out his own ip adresses in range from 192.168.50.1 - 254. I done this because the basement is semi-business, and I dont want the visitors to be able to see the network of the AC66U. (It is wifi only and it uses guest accounts).

Does this setup mean the N66U is ABOVE the AC66U? And in this case, making it impossible for me to login to the router settings when i'm connected on the network on the AC66U?

Just checked: I can login to the AC66U settings page from the N66U.

Sorry i'm abit confused about which network is below / above in this setup.

Don't use a '*' for an IP address: use 1, like in '192.168.100.1' .

If you can post a diagram, it will be clearer for all. ;)
