New Around Here
I'm running merlins software on my ac68 and it works fine but now my wifi printer has broken so I need to get a new one. I've seen a list somewhere showing what printers works with the ac68 but cannot find it. Are the any differences between oem software an merlin in regards to printer compability and where do I find this list?

Pretty much any wireless printer can work with any wireless router. Those lists are probably for USB connected printers.

Really, you should take time looking up the cost of consumables for the printer. Aftermarket ink is usually much cheaper than ink from the printer mfgr. I'm partial to Brother printers because ink is really cheap for a lot of their models if you get non-branded ink over the internet. I usually buy the cheapest printer that meets my needs AND has cheap consumables. I treat the printers as disposable. If any other printer mfgrs have cheap non-branded ink available, who might they be?

It was the usb port compability that I had in mind as I will have the printer nearby the router. I assume that theres no problem routing any printer trough the network port, providing that the printer has such availability. I had a few wifi printers but always had problems with connectivity hence would a wired one be prefered.

Hmm,
Unless WiFi printer has poor signal problem, it is set up once, forget it situation. My family shares Canon MP990 on WiFi, never ever had any problem.

The compatibility only matters when connecting the printer to the router via USB.

Typically, printers which are network-capable wirelessly are also likely able to connect to your network via a wired Ethernet connection as well. Compatibility with the router in this case wouldn't matter.

If you are connecting wirelessly then you just need to ensure that the printer can join the same classification of networks ( 11b/g/n/ac). Most printers don't go up to 11ac or even 11n because there isn't a need for such a high throughput for print/scan data.

Installing the printer drivers on your computer will then be slightly different as you would need to select the option to install the printer which is connected on the network instead of a directly wired printer.
