Problem with Network Map

Sean65227

New Around Here
Hi,

I'm new to Asuswrt-Merlin. I've got a T-Mobile AC1900 that has been converted to run stock Asus AC68U firmware, and currently has "Merlin version 380.63_2". I've enabled the JFFS2 partition and allowed init scripts to be stored on the JFFS partition.

I haven't made many changes to the stock configuration. After loading this version, I did do a HW restore defaults. I'm trying to use the network map feature to see what clients are currently associated (both wifi and wired). I notice that many times active nodes are dropped from the network map list. In fact, as I watch the list, I do see nodes pop in and out.

If I go to system log->DHCP Leases, I can see that all my nodes have associated and have an IP address, but sometimes, these nodes seem to disappear from the network map. I did some troubleshooting, and note that the "networkmap" utility does create a database file (/jffs/nmp_client_list) that contains all the associated clients, and it is accurate while the GUI sometimes doesn't show some of these clients. I have also determined that when network map is *NOT* showing the clients, they are still active (i.e. still have a network connection), and can still be pinged by other nodes in the network.

Is the network map function flakey? Is this expected behavior? I've done some searching, and haven't found any definitive information.

While the DHCP leases from the system log will tell me most of what I really need to know, network is convenient since it also provides the "type" of connection (wired or wifi and wifi-band).

Any advice on what is going wrong? Or how to troubleshoot?

Thanks,

Sean
