Problem with upgrade to 270.26b

Hi,
Currently I have FW 3.0.0.4.270 and external USB HDD connected to the router. I've read that 3.0.0.4.270.26b contains some fixes for USB HDD and tried to upgrade. However during the upload, web UI became not responsive and in syslog.log I found following information:

notify_rc : stop_upgrade

I will be grateful if someone has idea what can be a problem of the upgrade?

I'm not sure how you did the upgrade? At this point, I'd suggest using router "recovery mode" to re-do the upgrade. You need to download the Asus Rescue utility for the rt-n66u from Asus if you haven't already. Then you should start with your router powered off. Press and hold the "reset" button, and power the router on. Keep holding the reset button until the power light is flashing slowly, then you can release it. At that point, your router is in recovery mode and you can use the "rescue" utility to select the firmware file (.trx extension on the filename, that's important), and start the upgrade.

The above process usually works for me no matter how hosed the router is.

If router is bricked, use recovery utility to revive it. DL'd f/w is zipped file. Did you forget
to unzip it when you tried update?

Disable Download Master then reboot, so to free up enough RAM for the upgrade to complete.

If it still fails, you can use Recovery Mode or the Firmware Recovery tool from the Asus support CD to upgrade outside of the firmware environment.

Thanks RMerlin, you were right. It was a problem with memory. BTW, out of memory could better handled. At least some info in logs.
