I am considering the QNAP TS-209 II, and notice it's remote replication/backup is based on rsync.
Since I would assume that the rsync is only effectively a mirror and only allows restore from the latest backup, this would mean if the NAS's file gets corrupted and it replicates across to the backup server, then there is no way to recover the original file to a "point in time" (similar to Windows Restore Points or Apple Time Capsule)?
I have read that there are multiple solutions to getting rsync to work in a similar manner (using hardlinks etc) but this would involve command line access to the script being used.
Has anyone managed to change the parameters for the rsync command, or can suggest a wa to do point-in-time backups without using a separate computer?
