Is it possible to connect a switch, using console, to a notebook that doesn't have a serial interface? Does the USB/serial adapter work for the console?

If your thinking a "DB9 to RJ45 Console cable" yes you can connect via a usb adapter and still use programs like hyperterm the USB/DB9 adapter will give you the sieral port you need and it will still function the same way. you will be able to access printers, Cisso manged switches, Fortinet hardware, and such. you can get the adapters off eBay on the cheap they just take a few weeks to come over seas.
