Question about Fibre Channel HBA

Hi, I want to connect 2 PC using HBA. I've bought card which says I need cable 62.5/125um . Someone told me that I need to use longer distance to use fibre optics, otherwise SFP module for example will get burned. Is this the same for HBA? Thank you.
