I'll try that. What should I expect with iperf. I ran it once already and got 95 Mbits/s from the wireless laptop to the ethernet laptop.

this is what it should look like testing a wired to wired connection - test that first, as you need to be sure your gigabit ethernet isn't actually running at 100mbit/s (which will happen with a bad cable) before you even START thinking about testing wifi to wired

Code:

iperf Done.

Processor has nothing to do with transfer rates. Small files will act like that. Try transferring something about a gig or at least 100 MB. If that is also slow, then backup your router, reset and then restore the config.

Good luck,

Morris

Thanks for everyone's help. I'm not really sure what is happening, but I'll just give an update in case it helps someone else.

I ended up resetting the router as a last resort, and set everything up again. I still have asymmetry but its much better in terms of speed. Its 60-70MBs in one direction, and 40-50 in the other direction. I transferred the same file which is about 4 gb.

Its at least faster for me so less painful to wait for transfers, but I don't know why I was having the issues in the first place and why they still exist, but to a lesser degree.

Thanks all.
