Question on "Global Filter Mode" setting under "DNS Filtering"

I really appreciate the new "DNS Filtering" feature (under "Parental Control"). One thing has me confused, though. How does the "Global Filter Mode" setting under "DNS Filtering" interact with the "DNS Server1" and "DNS Server2" settings under WAN > "Internet Connection"? Is the "Global Filter Mode" setting ignored unless "Connect to DNS Server automatically" is set to Yes?

When you define a Global filter, all DNS queries are automatically redirected to the Global Filter server, EXCEPT if a client in the list below has its own DNS filter entry, or is set to None. When set to None, then it will use the ISP DNS (either manual or automatically configured ones).

Settings on the WAN page have zero influence on how DNSFilter works, since DNSFilter's implementation works by redirecting connections at the firewall level.
