Question on Merlin and USB support

Occasional Visitor
Are there any specific USB/SATA chipsets that are known to not work or work best with the Merlin/ASUS firmware?

I tried finding a thread that answered this questions and could not.

The other way to ask it is the chipset support based off of the actual manufacturer's chipset support and if so should one reference ASUS support on that, or did the Linux based OS firmware change the supported chipsets?
