Queston about MOCA and cable signal

New Around Here
Six months ago I deployed 2 MOCA adapter. (NETGEAR MCAB1001 MoCA Coax-Ethernet Adapter Kit)

1. In the office next to cable modem - no TV
2. In the living room with TV setup. I installed the MOCA adapter inline (wall -> MOCA adapter-> Tivo)

Everything worked great!

Last month I added two more MOCA adapter(different brand - Actiontec Ethernet Over Coax MoCA Adapter)

1. In bedroom without a TV
2. in bedroom with a TV (wall -> adapter -> Tivo)

So over the last month it worked great, but we did notice some times the signal would be bad. I first assumed it was a bad hard drive in my Tivo as I did a scan of it and problems were found. It wasn't too bad so I just ignored it. But eventually it got bad enough to try and fix it. So I switched around my Tivos to have the good one in the living room and saw that I still have the same picture issue. I ran the drive check on the second one and it was fine. (We don't really use the Tivo in our bedroom, which is why I didn't notice the signal problem before)

I then started doing some troubleshooting and found that when I removed the adapter from inline the signal was fine.

So I purchased the needed switches and additional cables and started to just put a split after the wall before the TV.

Wall -> splitter -> Tivo
-> adapter

the adapter worked fine - good speeds, but I'm not getting any signal at all on my Tivo. Nothing.

I removed both the splinter and just plugged the cable directly into the Tivo and it worked fine.

I then went and got some cable terminators and attached to any extra cable ports ( I have a splinter in the attic that has 8 ports, but I'm only using 4.)

I put the splitter back with the adapter and everything the way I want it and now I can kind of see the picture but it's terrible.

so I'm guessing I don't have a strong enough signal with all the splitters.

I see there are some amplifiers on the market but I don't really understand how they will impact my MOCA network.

Any suggestions? Would better cables work? I have RG6 behind my TVs - no clue what is in the walls.

Sounds like a poor signal. Check all the connections are tight with a 7/16" wrench. Usually it takes less than 1/4 turn beyond finger tight. It might improve if you replace the terminations along the cable back to the household splitter.

The issue could also be that the splitter at the tv is bad.

I'm using a household amplifier from Wi3 which is MOCA enabled. Google Wi3 WIPNET to find their page. It's got 4 CATV ports and a cable modem port.

It's working really quite well. The only down side is it's a bit more expensive than most other CATV amps.
