R7800 with BT SmartHub - Setup Problem

Hi to all - Always been a great Netgear fan so I just bought an R7800 with my BT SmartHub used as a modem - BUT can't follow how to setup this combo. It all works, sort of, but maybe I'm doing something wrong as the switch shows up as UNKNOWN with a big blue question mark in HOME mode.

If the BT SmartHub is your router you have to run your R7800 as a AP.

Thanks. Yes I see the AP switch in the Netgear options but if I do that I cannot login in to the Netgear UI on the ethernet cable. I don't know why it's like that but that's what the Netgear UI page tells me.

Right now I haven't done that as I don't have a wifi card to test with. I guess the big blue unknown will then disappear. The new card should arrive soon.

You can see the IP on the R7800 in your SmartHub settings.
You dont need a WIFI card use a TP cable.
From LAN port on R7800 to LAN port on your SmartHub.

When you put the R7800 in AP mode its IP address changes to one assigned by the primary router. You have to determine its new IP address then you can log in as usual.

Or change the IP on the SmartHub in something like "Local Device IP address", look at the settings on the SmartHub for something like "Attached Devices".

Or if you can't bridge the BT modem/router, use it's DMZ for the IP address that it gives the R7800.
Be sure that the ISP modem doesn't used 192.168.1.1 as a LAN address. If so then you can either change this on the BT Hub or change the R7800 to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.2.1. When your connected to the R7800, use one of these addresses to access the R7800 UI.

You should be able to access the ISP modems use as well thru the R7800. However you'll need to use it's LAN IP address to access it's UI.
