Can anyone recommend a utility or process for reading, in a user readable non hex format, the config (backup) file from an ASUS router?

If you currently have access to the router a better solution might be to user John's NVRAM Save/Restore Utility: http://www.snbforums.com/threads/user-nvram-save-restore-utility-r22.19521/

John's script creates a human readable backup file that has the variables nicely grouped together by function.
