Refurbished Asus RT-N66R without MicroSD

New Around Here
I bought a Refurbished Asus RT-N66R from Newegg Flash (http://flash.newegg.com/product/N82E16833320154), hoping to setup Rsync (installed on MicroSD syncing two external USB hard drives). Turns out, there is no MicroSD card slot inside like the rest. I replaced my RT-N65R with this router because of the SD card, and its not there. Since I opened it, the warranty is now void. It looks like there is a spot for the SD card, but there is no carriage for it. Am I able to solder a microsd carriage to the board? is this typical of a refurbished unit? The Mainboard says RT-N66U REV 3.21.

There is nothing wrong with USB instead of the microsd slot. Either way, the maximum throughput is crap.

I use the sdcard slot myself, but for no real reason except that I wanted to. Soldering seems like a huge pain for negligible gain.

My problem is that the two USB ports will be used by the two external hard drives. thus, I would need to add a USB hub. The whole point was to alleviate additional hardware. I agree that soldering would be a huge pain. I may just try to send it back anyway.

I dunno what sort of USB speeds you expect with the RT-N66U, but prepare to be disappointed. 10MB/sec max IIRC. (The RT-N66U is my WiFi AP.)

You still can split an external drive to several partitions and install rsync there.

I've seen a new RT-N66U without sd-card slot, it's simply another HW revision.
