Register VPN ip address to dyndns

New Around Here
Hello,

I have an RT-AC66U. I'm trying to achive the steps in this guide:
https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Update-DYNDNS-with-VPN-IP-Address

My VPN provider is using pptp but I hope it is possible to achieve the same result. Anybody know what file I should modify in the first step?

Since I don't use openvpn the openvpn-event script is not present.

Another thing, the scripts listed in the wiki is not present in my /jffs/scripts/. That folder is empty on my device. Am I to create them as needed or is something not right on my device?

Thanks in advance :)

Best regards
Toby

I got this working by using ddclient on my debian server.

The VPN ip is registered successful at dyndns but I cant connect from the outside

I guess the port forward setup is not in use while the vpn tunnel is up?

I would be very grateful for some advice on theis topic.

I have the same issue, My VPN provider is PIA and I have an account with dyndns. When VPN is working my ip address is not reachable but as soonest VPN is off ddns is working ok. One user gave me config to update but when this line is added tunnelling isn't working, so after adding :
script-security 2
route-nopull
in to configuration box ddns is reachable and theoretically vpn is working too but tunnelling doesn't. please have a try and tell me if you have same issue.

As far as i know it wont work, unless you guys get a vpn client with a dedicated Ip address.

Standard vpn clients ips are shared among several outer vpn users therefore making your requests impossible.
Most vpn clients providers are able to provide you with a static ip address for a additional hefty fee a month .
