I had a router AC68U with merlini fw +USB3 disk.
It worked great - stable, good DLNA for Samsung TV, cifs share and other p2p daemons like transmission, getnzb, sickbeard etc. Never in 1.5years had to restart it.
I was forced to leave my ASUS AC68U router behind and I want to recreate something similar in new home.
Also ASUS router was a bit struggling with transmissions download speeds and extracting nzb rar files.
Would you recommend just to buy same router AC68U, maybe NetGear R7000 (better storage performance?).
Or something completely different (newer in 2015Q4) but not going in to NetGear R8000 price point.
R7000 looks a bit dated, but has tad better storage performance.
R7500 reviews are bad (maybe fixed in latest firmware?)
Something from Linksys?
I already have USB3 disk, so new dedicated NAS is not really needed.
Most of stuff is cabled at my place so I don't really care about Wifi (very limited use, 2-3 devices).
Thank you for advice
