New Around Here
Hi, Dear Wifiers

I need some advice to upgrade my current router.

Details:

current router: Netgear R7500v2 with latest Official FW
current Modem: Netgear CM700

Desktop's wifi card info: GIGABYTE GC-WB1733D-I (Intel 9260 solutions); cann't do ethernet cable :(
Laptop's wifi card info: Intel 9560

direct distance between them: ~22.5 Ft; one wood wall

home area: 1300 sqft

ISP plan: Xfinity 600/20 Dn/Up

What happened:
Desktop - speedtest downstream result: 140Mbps
Laptop - speedtest downstream result: ~400Mbps

laptop and desktop sit almost same place, why it has such a gap?

Should I consider a 160Mhz ready router (contiguous 160) to see if desktop get better? R7800? RX500? or other brand

So far high priority is on the desktop, just wanna saturate my down speed .

Appreciate if any suggestion.

Honest advice would be to wait for mature wifi 6E routers to hit the market.

If you can't wait, my immediate advice would be the Asus ax86u (or ax88u if you can use the extra ethernet ports). And of course, the first step would be to load them with the amazing Asuswrt-Merlin firmware :)
