Well it has been a while and I kind of thought there would be an update by now that would fix obvious bugs like this.

Now every day or 2 the router has to be rebooted an then reboot the printer in order to connect to the wireless.

For anyone interested in this topic!
I think this is resolved.
I contacted ASUS support.

Their response said for the latest Firmware update the Router should be reset to factory default. When the Router reboots the update would be applied.

I saved the settings and reset the router.
Restored the settings and when it was restored all was good.
It has been about 4 days since the reset.

Thanks to all for the assistance!!

Thank you @Toodyt ... I've been searching for a solution to this problem for a couple of months... My symptoms were I was unable to connect from a device on the 5gz-1 network to a device on a 5gz-2 network (and vice versa) ... although I could connect from from a device on either 5gz-1 or 5gz-2 network to a device on the 2.4gz network... and vice versa. And when I say "can't connect" that includes "can't ping".

Taking your advise of "saving config, reset router to default, reboot, restore saved config, and reboot" fixed the problem. I did it two days ago and its still fixed.

Thank you again.

That is what is so great about these communities.

Glad my reaching out to the others in this thread was able to help you too!!

Just as an FYI: after 12 days, my problem has returned....
and rebooting alone does not solve it.

Summary:
Ping success from Client using 5gz-1 to Client using 5gz-1
Ping failure from Client using 5gz-1 to Client using 5gz-2
Ping success from Client using 5gz-1 to Client using 2.4gz

Ping failure from Client using 5gz-2 to Client using 5gz-1
Ping success from Client using 5gz-2 to Client using 5gz-2
Ping success from Client using 5gz-2 to Client using 2.4gz

Ping success from Client using 2.4gz to Client using 5gz-1
Ping success from Client using 2.4gz to Client using 5gz-2
Ping success from Client using 2.4gz to Client using 2.4gz

Note: Connect's fail in a similar fashion.
All three devices are Linux based devices.

I am currently considering disabling one of the 5gz radios on my RT-AC3200 router.

Hello Tony

Yes I had my printer off the network last evening. However it did connect after just rebooting the printer.

Just wondering if you are still on the Smart Connect?
I think that was one of the fist things I disabled and I haven’t enabled yet.
I also do have one 5g links disabled as well.
