Greetings,
I believe it is time that I retired my trusty RT-AC66 and moved to a newer, shine-er platform.
Thanks to all of RMerlin's hard work, and the numerous help provided by those on this forum, I've been able to extensively customize and extend the functionality of this device long past what I had originally anticipated.
However, due to some... physical damage (ok, ok - the dog knocked over the entire AV stack and has finally broken all the antenna covers off; plus the connections to the mainboard are now loose), plus the age and the dropping of support for the MIPS platform, I would like to move on.
I know that there is a specific Wireless suggestion sub-forum here, but I'm looking for suggestions that specifically support the use of Asuswrt-Merlin firmware and that will be support for some time.
Currently I use my RT-AC66 to do the following, and would prefer to ensure the replacement does as well:
So, any suggestions ?

- Network level ad-blocking courtesy of AB-Solution.
- Custom DNS entries that provide auto-discovery services for Windows, etc.
- The ability to run arbitrary (non-repo) binaries to provide select network services not otherwise available.
So, any suggestions ?
