RT-AC66U Firmware upgrade fails

My router is stuck on FW V 3.0.0.4.376_3754

It always tells me to upgrade, and when i do all seems to go fine, new FW is downloaded, and it reboots, but is then back to 3.0.0.4.376_3754.

Any thoughts?

Factory reset the router and see if it shows the right version.
If not, reload firmware again.

Flash the latest RMerlin version for your router.

Then you will be able to flash it to any other version you want (but I would recommend to stay on the RMerlin firmware).

Remember that you will need to do a full reset to factory defaults and then manually and minimally configure the router to secure it and connect to your ISP (do not use a backup cfg file).

I would also recommend you use new ssid's for both bands too.

Make sure no USB's are plugged in (did that 2x). I had an air card on mine and wouldn't change the FW when I did an update. I was pulling my hair out.

Hi Bengt,

- Unplug all USB cable
- Do a factory restore
- Upgrade the firmware
- Do a factory restore
- Configure your router settings
