RT-AC68P: Multiple USB Drive Partitions for Time Machine?

raduray

New Around Here
We have two Macs in our household, Mac-1 and Mac-2.

I currently have a shared data drive connected to the RT-AC68P's USB3 and a Time Machine drive for Mac-1 connected to USB2. Works fine, but does not support Mac-2 which still needs a DAS USB drive for whenever we run Time Machine.

Ideally, what I'd like to do is get a large USB drive and configure it with three partitions. One partition would be for shared data, one for Mac-1 Time Machine, and one for Mac-2 Time Machine.

Will that work? I'd like to get an idea before going out and buying a new drive.

You would be better off with a NAS. Even with USB3 the Asus is limited for read write speeds and drive size.
