RT-AC68U and AsusWRT-Merlin

Hello,

I'm new to this forum but not to routers.
I recently replaced my linksys 610 (hacked to e3000) running DD-WRT with
an Asus RT-AC68U.
First I installed DD-WRT on the ASUS but no 5g and the problems i
replaced the router for in the first place persisted (bad connection,
slow speed, connections dropping)

So I installed AsusWRT-Merlin. Nice work... Good looking, appears stable,
good network connectivity and speed.

However: every 30-45 mins, my internet activities freeze, Facebook looses contact, google returns a timeout.
Every time I open the router main page, I get my ISP-granted IP and DDNS says it's refreshing. _BUT I DISABLED DDNS!_

So I changed the DNS settings from 'obtain DNS from DHCP' to manually entering the ISP-DNS IP's.
Now at least my connection to internet is stable.

BUT: I have a QNAP that also acts as Syslog server so the router outputs it's logs to the syslog server.
Now, my mailbox looks like added picture.
almost every 15-30 mins, the router is restarting some service. Also, DDNS still is active and I still experience small drops in internet connection.

What have I done wrong?

Not sure what you did but 5G works on my AC68U with DD-WRT and build 23900M OLDD , 32 days uptime.

Problem is not the 5G, but loss of internet connectivity due to DDNS _NOT_ deactivating.

Putting in Fixed DNS IP's has alleviated situation, but still doesnt explain DDNS being active when it's OFF
