Heya guys,
I'm not the most experienced fellow at this stuff so I'm seeking some advice, I live in a 2 floor apartment and currently my modem router is at one end of the apartment because for some unknown reason thats the only place where a DSL port is working and giving me internet, other DSL ports in the apartment aren't working even though at one point we had a working phone line connected to a DSL port that is in a way more central position. I've tried plugging it in all over the apartment with no success, currently I have this what I think is a modem? not sure though I can put up a picture if you guys need. This modem connects to the DSL port and then I plug in the modem thing into my RT-AC68U which gives me internet from the one unideal DSL port.. sooo I was wondering if you guys knew. I'm planning on routing wires up my wall to move it atm.
1. Why only one freaking DSL port now works.
2. What is this thing that I seem to have to plug my RT-AC68U into cause when I plug the RT-AC68U directly into the wall and try get an internet connection it doesn't seem to work. No idea why.
3. Should I get a range extender? How do powerline adapters work with apartments? cause my apartment in Australia worked with a powerline adapter I think and I haven't tried it in this apartment in Malaysia.
Any help would be muuuuuch appreciated guys, rn I've pulled the router setup physically as close to the other side of the apartment as I can and then used a foil cone thing to direct the signal to the correct area
which barely gives me a somewhat stable connection.
