RT-AC87U AND N66U openvpn client issues with DDNS.

I had a thread about this issue I have with the N66U.
Since then I upgraded to an AC87U.

My issue is supposedly worked around using policy based routing / selective routing for the OPENVPN client (Used with PIA)

I looked over the forum, but unfortunately they are IP based ruled...

See, I want to use my 87u to its fullest extent.
Which means, DDNS working through my OpenVPN client to PIA.
Also want FTP access from the internet to my router if possible.
I use openvpn for Netflix, and torrents. I use master downloader (asus torrent downloader) for my torrents. (Hence, router's OWN IP needs to be routed to the OpenVPN tunnel.) The Router's OWN ISP IP is what is sent to asuscomm.com, and NOT the TUNNEL IP.

IF I can access the FTP server ont he router, and get DDNS (Asuscomm.com) to work without going through the tunnel, I would be satisfied.

So, is there a way to do selective routing based on DESTINATION IP (AND/OR) Port?

Ie:
Everything goes through the VPN tunnel to PIA, EXCEPT:
Any outgoing connections to ASUSCOMM.COM for DDNS updating,
AND
Any incoming connections on port 21 for FTP.

All on stock firmware?!? :-D

This router fits 90% of my needs, all in one low power device...
With it, I don't even have a need for a computer at home.

I'm just trying to reach the other 10%.

So in short, when my OpenVPN client is launched, it works great.
Except, I CANNOT connect to my router from the internet anymore.

I have the same setup you want but it requires merlin firmware.
The other way would be to ask your vpn provider to open the ports you need, but from my experience they may charge you an arm and leg for it.

My setup.
asus ddns gets isp ip
Extenal ip reported: vpn provider.
I'm able to ftp, access router, RDP, etc via wan, including various services from my synology nas.

All of the above is done via selective routing, with requires third party firmware as Merlin.
