RT-AC87U wifi weird problems

diogo122

New Around Here
So i got this router for about 11 months, he never gave me any problem, but 3 days ago he started doing something weird.. the problem is after i connect to the 2.4 ghz wi fi if i disconnect i cant connect again,
and i only can connect to it in the first 30 seconds of the power on or so.. this go for everything, smart tv, computer, cell phones tablets, and etc i mean if i reset him when he starts the wifi i got a small window to connect in the 2.4 ghz wifi, after that.. done nothing connects anymore, and he works normal after connected u just cant disconnect... weird or not?

here is what i already tried to fix it, upgrade firmware to lastest version (x)
downgrade firmware to a previous version more "stable"(x)
tried merlin firmware(x)
turned off 5.0ghz radio (x)
hard reset (x)
factory default(x)
turned off NAT (x)
checked if there is another DHCP server on the network (x)

the weirdest part? even after a factory hard reset the when i use the red button. if i disconnect from the wifi when i'm configuring it, he does the same thing, i'm unable to connect again and i only can connect to it if i reset and in short period of time

help pls? or i can just cry to Asus for a new one since is in the warranty

update he is also dropping the wifi now Oo lol

Sounds like time to reach out to Asus for an RMA - you've done pretty much all the troubleshooting steps folks generally recommend, so quite possibly a hardware failure.

Make sure you get a new power adapter as well as the Router itself...

Hi,
Is the radio on all the time? Do you use inSSIDer or Acrylic utility to check your WiFi signals?

well i think i found a temporary solution, when i start it, it does the same bug, but somehow when i connect something via WPS it stops doing the bug and works normal Oo, yeah all it takes its connect 1 device via WPS and the bug is gone, i can connect and disconnect normal, no drops, nothing it works like a charm, but the mystery still stands, what's causing the bug?? weird

Edit. bug is back haaha managed to solved it but id dit not last, i changed a few things, router is on legacy now and 20 mhrz, offers wifi but its will not assign ip addresses"connecting"

well, a quick update, i fixed! yes i fracking fixed is on for 2 days working perfect.. the problem? lan port 3 was somehow bugged i turned dual wan ON and turned it on a wan port, problem is gone but i lost the port 3. i cant afford a RMA i bough him in switzerland and i don't care for lan ports i don't use it. i guess lan port 3 was requesting ip assignment non stop.
