RT-AC87U Wireless Connectivity Problems

I recently purchased and installed an ASUS RT-AC87U and have encountered a problem with connected wireless devices. Devices connected to the router through ethernet have no issues, but for some reason (on two separate android devices), certain websites fail to load (eBay for example displays a "request timeout" page) and certain apps fail to function correctly (Skype and Spotify will not connect, other messaging programs take an unusually long time to send messages). I have tried tweaking the router settings, and have already updated to the latest firmware, but nothing I have tried has made a difference. Both wireless devices we working correctly using my old router. Has anyone had any any similar experiences or can offer any suggestions on how to correct this issue? Thanks!

Have you tried changing the set DNS to something other than its defaults ?

I use the RT-AC87U set as an access point.
Use the free Open.DNS.com here & need to set it matching everywhere I can, Router, Access Point, computer too otherwise my win10 acts up like you've described.
