New Around Here
Hello Guys,
I bought RT-AX86U Pro about half year ago. Everything was working fine till last week. In my home there was some electricity maintenance. They suddenly turn off power in my flat. After bringing it back, I noticied some issues with router. I was thinking that maybe this is some issue with ONT from ISP, but all tests went fine. Also I found out, that my issue happens when Smart Connect is switching clinets to 5Ghz. I turn off Smart Connect, and it seems that on 5Ghz max speed is about 50Mbps, and have a lot of hickups. With 2,4Ghz access works fine, as well with ethernet. I tired several settings, firmware changes (merlin and original), factory resets, wifi channels, etc. But still I see performance issues on 5Ghz. Is this is possible that hardware of 5Ghz radio were broken during electricity maintenance?

BTW I also noticed that temperatures on radios are much lower then it was before (about 10-15 degrees lower).

Sure is possible. Do you have a surge suppressor on the power supply? If not you should. My router is on a UPS.

You might try a factory reset and manually reconfigure.

Of course I don't have, and router is supplied by electric socket which is built-in directly in fuse box... Yep I know not too smart...
Yes I did factory reset and configure everything manually on both Merlin and original software. Without any improvement unfortunately.

Maybe the power brick was incapacitated and the router itself is okay. Got another compatible supply to try instead?

What link speeds your devices show in System Log, Wireless Log?

When you have an issue you collect data first and go from there. The data you need is in the GUI.

In case bellow client FFF is trying to play youtube video
in 4K, with bitrate about 58Mbps. And it has hickups all the time. When in 2.4Ghz the same video with same bitrate on same client play smoothly.
In the same time my mobile phone AAA, keeps loosing voWiFi each 5-10 minutes, when it looses it it has hickup at about 1 minute, network can't be reached there, including webgui of router itself.

On other devices I'm not able to check but from my expirience they also will get hickups from time to time.
All the devices are in the same room, so there can't be range issues.

What happens if you switch to Ch.36 at 80MHz wide?

In this case I would agree something is not right with this router. You perhaps have warranty on it, request RMA.
