RT-BE88U factory reset itself while I was away – any ideas

Hi all,

Came back from holiday to find my RT-BE88U showing a solid red WAN LED. I hardwired into it and got taken straight to the initial setup wizard, like it was brand new. All my settings were wiped – SSIDs, DHCP, port forwards, the lot.

It seems to have factory reset itself.

I'm running Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4, and the router is only about a month old. No one was in the house while I was away, and there's no obvious sign of a power cut or surge. It was working fine before I left and is kept in a cool, ventilated room.

Has anyone seen this happen before on Merlin? Could it be a bug or is the hardware suspect?

Cheers,

Has anyone seen this happen before on Merlin?

I've seen it once on my own router, there are reports around SNB Forums for different models resetting themselves... so it sometimes happens, seems like firmware version is unrelated. Exact reasons why it happens - unknown. Configure, continue using it.

New hardware misbehaving could suggest a hardware issue. I would configure it minimally at first; make note of CPU operating temperature; keep an eye out for any defective/damaged cables/hardware connected to the router... and expect to see the trouble again.

Yes, just recently actually but not the same model or FW

It took everything out and weiped itself and in so doing the nodes as well, took a bit to rebuild it all but it's working 100% and so is the USB that I thought had died and instigated it
But eventually rebuilt and recovered didn't find a why and trying to break again, didn't cause it to fail either
