RT-N56U mod question

Marcelo

New Around Here
Guys,

I have a RT-N56U since a couple of years ago, was using it as main router and not using the wifi due lack of coverage. Recently found the mainboard has some connectors that could hold an external antenna.
Does somebody know what connector type is it?

There is a screen of the pcb here: https://wikidevi.com/w/images/e/ea/Asus_rt_n56u_pcb.jpg

Check the left side of the board the connectors are tagged UB5, UB3 and UB2.

Thanks!

Those do look suspiciously like a ufl connector and they do seem to be associated with PC board antenna patterns but in order to use them, you would need to disconnect the PC board antennas by doing board level surgery. Might be worth a gamble if you don't mind replacing the 56U if you screw it up. I believe you can buy made up antennas with the mating connector installed...check ebay. Thanks for your reply.
After doing some research, I see the connector does not look like an ufl, it you check it deeply it's like a mix of male and female ufl connectors, but not sure it this really exists, I couldn't found anything similar on the internet.
