RT-N56U - official IPv6 support?

They do in the their beta firmware, which will eventually become official. Till then, there is no IPv6. Or you can run a custom firmware that does support IPv6.

Someone said that the beta firmware listed is not official Asus firmware and is custom firmware that has been coded by a Russian group outside of the Asus company?

They're confusing Padavan's custom firmware with Asuswrt. Asuswrt is official, and all the RT-N56 support code is there - anyone could even download the source code from Asus's site, and compile it themselves for their RT-N56 if they wanted.

Those RT-N56 betas are also posted by actual Asus employes, either here (Jeremy) or on the russian Asus support forums.

IPv6 support.

Just an update for anyone interested in IPv6, it is now supported on the RT-N56u in the latest firmware (version 3.0.0.4.260).
